About Dr. Gunatilake
Dr. Ravindu “Ravi” Gunatilake is a board-certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist and Obstetrician-Gynecologist with nearly two decades of experience dedicated to advancing the care of women with high-risk pregnancies. Currently, Dr. Gunatilake is serving as Chief Medical Officer of Advanced Women’s Care and has been Medical Director of Valley Perinatal Services since 2018, leading the continued growth of one of Arizona’s premier maternal-fetal medicine programs. As Director of Research at Valley Perinatal Services, he oversees clinical and translational research initiatives focused on improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through evidence-based innovation.
Dr. Gunatilake specializes in complex prenatal diagnosis, preterm birth prevention, maternal obesity and diabetes, critical illness in pregnancy, and the management of medically complicated pregnancies. Throughout his career, Dr. Gunatilake has been recognized for his leadership in improving obstetrical quality and patient safety. He is passionate about utilizing technology to transform women’s healthcare. Dr. Gunatilake has co-founded and advised several healthcare technology ventures focused on patient engagement, enhancing access, and care delivery. In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Gunatilake continues to educate and mentor the next generation of physicians. He actively supports initiatives that strengthen maternal health within the communities he serves.
Dr. Gunatilake believes that each pregnancy represents a unique window of opportunity to positively influence the lifelong health of the mother and child. He approaches every patient with the same compassion, respect, and dedication he would extend to a member of his own family. Dr. Gunatilake aims to achieve the safest and most beneficial outcome for every pregnancy. When Dr. Gunatilake isn’t practicing medicine, he is spending time with his family, cooking, skiing, as well as pursuing innovations that advance the future of maternal healthcare.
